I thought this article was very interesting and also a commentary on modern art. More specifically I think the GIF of the "Balloon Dog Deflated'' is a commentary on modern art and how much money people are willing to spend on art when it is being bidded for. I think it's ridiculous how much the actual sculpture Balloon Dog (Orange) by Jeff Koons sold for $58.4 million. The fact that someone bought that for that much money is outrageous and it makes me wonder how people spend their wealth. I also thought it was funny that Michael Green was selling his GIF for $5,800 in honor of Jeff Koons which is kinda ridiculous price for a piece of art that is digital. Digital art deserves more recognition and I think this was a way for Green to get it recognized and to comment on how people will buy things to state their wealth or just because they have the resources to do so. I just think about how that money could have been donated to people in need. I do wonder how much it cost to make that sculpture but I’m sure it wasn’t $58.4 million. I clicked on the link in the article that takes you to ebay of greens listing but it was unavailable so maybe he sold it? or just took it down? I will look further into my investigation. I didn't realize how big the actual sculpture is but I kinda love it and want one. I love seeing all of the parodies.
